Private Client Lawyer
Responsible to the Equity Partner

Aims:

  • to enhance the private client offering within Scaiff by offering excellent and practical legal solutions and cross refer to other departments

Role:

  • To take responsibility for all Private client work and supervise any private client secretaries/admin or paralegals
  • To undertake all areas of Private Client work to include wills, probate, LPAs, Deputyships, Trusts and related Tax Advice
  • To advise clients in meetings, and in writing of the options open to them, and any tax issues
  • To draft wills, trusts and any related documents
  • To have a working knowledge of taxation, in particular Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax
  • To have excellent communication skills and written skills
  • To develop client relations to ensure a high level of client satisfaction
  • To have the ability to empathise with vulnerable clients
  • To develop new business by attending marketing events and develop contacts.
  • To work with other departments to ensure all clients legal needs are met

Skills:

  • To have extensive knowledge relating to wills and trusts
  • To have extensive knowledge of probate procedures and taxation
  • To have the ability to use such knowledge to achieve excellent results for the client
  • To achieve billing and time targets
  • To be well organised and have the ability to meet deadlines
  • To have at least 5 years experience within private client
  • To keep up to date by attending training where necessary, reading legal periodicals and Lexis Nexis

Family Solicitor
Responsible to the Equity Partner

  • to enhance the family offering within Scaiff by offering excellent and practical legal solutions and cross refer to other departments

Role:

  • To head up the Family Department and take responsibility for all family work and supervise any family secretaries/admin or paralegals
  • To undertake all areas of family law, in particular, divorce, financial remedy applications, children matters, cohabitation issues, domestic abuse and pre and post nuptial agreements
  • To represent clients in court
  • To draft court documents and agreements
  • To have excellent communication skills and written skills
  • To develop client relations to ensure a high level of client satisfaction
  • To develop new business by attending marketing events and develop contacts.
  • To work with other departments to ensure all clients legal needs are met

Skills:

  • To have extensive knowledge of family law and procedures
  • To have the ability to use such knowledge to achieve excellent results for the client
  • To achieve billing and time targets
